EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 The Department of Homeland Security has released the identities of two individuals shot by a Border Patrol agent in southeast Portland. <\/p>\n
One of the people shot, who is a suspected Tren De Aragua member allegedly entered the US illegally through El Paso. <\/p>\n
The individuals, identified as Luis David Nico Moncada and Yorlenys Betzabeth Zambrano-Contreras, are described by officials as criminal illegal immigrants from Venezuela.<\/p>\n
Moncada is suspected of being a member of the Tren de Aragua gang, DHS officials said. <\/p>\n
He entered the U.S. illegally in 2022 and was released into the country by the Biden administration, according to DHS. <\/p>\n
Since then, he has been arrested for DUI and unauthorized use of a vehicle and has a final order of removal, officials said. <\/p>\n
Zambrano-Contreras is allegedly associated with the Tren de Aragua prostitution ring and was involved in a prior shooting in Portland, federal officials said. <\/p>\n
She entered the U.S. illegally in 2023 near El Paso, Texas, and was also released into the country by the Biden administration, DHS officials said. <\/p>\n
