\u201cWhen wellness is tended, it grows.\u201d<\/p>\n
Donna Letier A Dallas company closed out Nasdaq\u2019s Wellness Week celebration\u2014and the markets\u2014on Friday.<\/p>\n \u201cBeing invited into this conversation actually signals something important,\u201d Gardenuity CEO Donna Letier said from the podium. \u201cWellbeing doesn\u2019t really live in dashboards and data.\u201d<\/p>\n Lee Hixson, Nasdaq\u2019s Vice President and Head of Listings Operations, set the stage from the exchange\u2019s flagship studio at 4 Times Square, at 43rd and Broadway, where bell-ringing ceremonies are held.<\/p>\n \u201cAs part of Nasdaq Wellness Week, we\u2019re proud to celebrate innovators, shapers, people advancing future human performance, preventative health, and everyday wellbeing,\u201d Hixson said, introducing Gardenuity co-founders Letier and Julie Eggers. <\/p>\n \u201cToday, we are so honored to close the markets this week with Gardenuity, a company transforming the way we bring nature into daily life and work,\u201d Hixson said.<\/p>\n Letier, who co-founded the company in 2017 with Eggers, described what sets Gardenuity apart in the crowded wellness space.<\/p>\n \u201cFor years, we treated wellness as something we measure,\u201d she said. \u201cWhat we\u2019re learning now is it\u2019s something we tend.\u201d<\/p>\n Donna Letier, Gardenuity co-founder and CEO, at the Nasdaq MarketSite: \u201cGardening isn\u2019t about perfection. It\u2019s about participation, just like wellness isn\u2019t a destination, it\u2019s a journey.\u201d [Screenshot: Nasdaq MarketSite video]<\/p>\n \u201cGardening today doesn\u2019t require a big yard, experience, or a whole lot of time,\u201d Letier told the crowd. \u201cIt\u2019s just a willingness to participate. Doesn\u2019t matter if you\u2019re in a high-rise, a brownstone, a wheelchair, or by the water.\u201d<\/p>\n Gardenuity\u2019s proprietary Match Technology<\/a> pairs customers with customized container gardens based on their ZIP code, local weather forecasts, and seasonal conditions, as Dallas Innovates has reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n The platform has celebrated over 5 million harvests nationwide and worked with more than 500 companies\u2014from Google to Cigna\u2014to bring gardening experiences to their employees, the company says on LinkedIn. In 2023, the company announced that Gardenuity is available through major health insurance and benefits providers<\/a> including Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and Aetna.<\/p>\n At Nasdaq, Letier made the case for why the approach works.<\/p>\n \u201cWe reward consistency, not urgency, and that turns out to matter deeply to human performance,\u201d she said. \u201cWhen we work with our hands and touch the soil, our nervous system settles and shifts out of constant urgency.\u201d<\/p>\n Also in 2023, Gardenuity raised $5.5 million in seed funding<\/a>, bringing total funding to $7.5 million to expand the company\u2019s products and technology.<\/p>\n Gardenuity Board Chairman Scott Letier\u2014Donna\u2019s husband, who is also chairman of Xerox Holdings and managing director of Deason Capital\u2014watched as she rang the bell. He later shared the moment on LinkedIn, crediting co-founder Eggers and the team \u201cwho have built this great vision.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cA garden doesn\u2019t rush its season. It trusts it,\u201d Donna Letier said. \u201cAnd no technology can replace the experience of putting your hands in soil.\u201d<\/p>\n
