More than 100,000 residents in the Texas border city of El Paso were left with little to no water after a main break over the weekend, and it was expected to take till midweek for operations to return to normal, officials said.<\/p>\n

The break in the 36-inch water main line happened late Saturday night in El Paso, which has a population of about 700,000, officials said. Gilbert Trejo, an official with El Paso Water, called it \u201can event of unprecedented proportion.” He said the break was made even more impactful because of \u201cthe way the pipeline itself was designed along with how different connections of smaller lines were made to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Officials are urging caution after the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) confirmed a rabies outbreak in Hays County and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

According to a public health alert from the Hays County Health Department, most cases tied to the outbreak have involved foxes, which are common carriers of the disease in Texas.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0San Antonio City Council to hold special meeting addressing increased ICE presence<\/a><\/p>\n

The San Antonio City Council is scheduled to hold a special meeting addressing the increased presence of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the city.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0an Instagram video<\/a>\u00a0from District 1 Councilwoman Sukh Kaur, the City Council is going to meet to discuss the partnership between the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) and ICE, along with San Antonio Mayor\u00a0Gina Ortiz Jones.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

U-Haul announces growth index; Texas metros make the top 3<\/a><\/p>\n

U-Haul has published its\u00a02025 growth index<\/a>\u00a0for metros and cities in the United States, with Texas having spots on both lists.<\/p>\n

Notably, Texas has the top three spots in the top growth by metros, with Dallas, Houston and Austin occupying those spots. Dallas remains in the number one spot from 2024, but Houston rose from ninth and Austin from fifth place.<\/p>\n
