Many of our cities across Texas will challenge record highs today out ahead of a cold front. Winds will ramp up out of the south, up to 40 mph, raising fire danger especially across North and Central Texas. The cold front moves in Monday night, dropping highs to the 80s and lows to the 50s by midweek. Moisture from the Gulf arrives on Thursday, bringing increasing rain chances, peaking Friday with showers and storms likely.<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0Texas voters have final say on $20 billion package to secure state\u2019s water supply<\/a><\/p>\n

No matter the region, there are water challenges. By one estimate, millions of Texans could\u00a0face serious water shortages<\/a>\u00a0in five years if nothing is done.<\/p>\n

And this fall, state lawmakers hope voters will\u00a0approve $20 billion for water projects over the next two decades.<\/a>\u00a0If voters agree, Proposition 4\u00a0on the November<\/a>\u00a0ballot<\/a>\u00a0will be the biggest state investment in water in Texas history.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0The San Antonio Spurs want to spend at least $500M on a new arena. Now they need help from voters<\/a><\/p>\n

The most important result for the San Antonio Spurs over the early weeks of this NBA season will probably come on Nov. 4. And the team doesn’t even have a game that day.<\/p>\n

Voters in Bexar County, Texas, are headed to the polls soon \u2014 early voting starts Monday and runs through Oct. 31, then actual Election Day voting happens on Nov. 4 \u2014 to decide if county officials will be permitted to commit no more than $311 million in what are called venue taxes to help build a new multipurpose arena that the Spurs will call home.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0What to know about Austin\u2019s Prop Q, what it means for taxpayers<\/a><\/p>\n

With a November election just on the horizon, Austin residents will soon decide whether or not to approve a tax rate increase to address other needs in the city.<\/p>\n

According to the City of Austin<\/a>, Proposition Q would increase the tax rate of $0.574017 per $100 valuation. This is an increase of $.05 per $100 on property tax compared to last year.<\/p>\n
