Anthony Davis<\/a> won\u2019t have surgery after all.<\/p>\n

Davis will not need surgery and the injury is expected to heal in approximately six weeks, the Mavericks announced Tuesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Davis had publicly pushed back on a report Tuesday midday from ESPN\u2019s Shams Charania saying that he would need surgery. <\/p>\n

Charania also reported<\/a> Tuesday that the Mavericks are having renewed trade talks centered around Davis, saying if he\u2019s moved to a contending team, he could return for the postseason.<\/p>\n

Davis took to social media to debunk the developments, calling them \u201clies.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Mavericks All-Star wrote<\/a>, \u201cY\u2019all better stop listening to these lies on these apps!\u201d on X, formerly known as Twitter. The ambiguous message, his first post on the platform since July 19, 2025, didn\u2019t directly address his injury or the trade rumors.<\/p>\n

Shortly after Davis\u2019 initial post, he followed up with a direct reply to an aggregation website that summarized both of Charania\u2019s reports into one post, which has since been deleted.<\/p>\n

Davis responded to the tweet<\/a> and said, \u201cLies!\u201d<\/p>\n

He initially sustained the hand injury in a loss to the Utah Jazz on Jan. 8.<\/a> The veteran forward reportedly received medical imaging on his hand on Jan. 9 in Salt Lake City.<\/p>\n

Prior to Monday\u2019s win over Brooklyn<\/a>, Mavericks coach Jason Kidd had said the team expected to know more about Davis\u2019 left hand sprain this week.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019s sometime this week that he\u2019ll talk to the doctors, but there is no schedule or timetable on when he\u2019s going to make that announcement,\u201d Kidd said.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, Davis had a sling on his left arm to support his heavily wrapped left hand. During Monday\u2019s shootaround, Davis did not wear the sling, nor was his hand wrapped, but he kept his arm elevated and close to his chest.<\/p>\n

Davis has missed several games this season due to injury. On Christmas Day, he left a nationally televised showdown against the Golden State Warriors because of right adductor soreness in the inner thigh. He also missed 14 consecutive games earlier in the campaign with a left calf strain.<\/p>\n

Overall, Davis has played in 29 out of 73 regular-season games since he joined the Mavericks. The Mavericks are 10-10 this season with Davis in the lineup and 5-15 in games played without him.<\/p>\n
