EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 The University of Texas at El Paso is set to unveil its new 124,725-square-foot learning complex, Texas Western Hall, during a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony this week. <\/p>\n
The unveiling of the new building will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, and will be located adjacent to the Liberal Arts Building on the UTEP campus. <\/p>\n
The new facility will serve as a central hub for teaching and campus life, replacing the 1960s-era Liberal Arts Building. <\/p>\n
Attendees will include John Zerwas, MD, Chancellor of The University of Texas System, Heather Wilson, President of UTEP, State Senator C\u00e9sar Blanco, and other local leaders and dignitaries.<\/p>\n
The new building comes as UTEP is set to implement changes to some class schedules starting this month.<\/p>\n
To accommodate more classes, UTEP will shift morning courses to a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule with 50-minute classes.<\/p>\n
University officials stated that this change will allow for more than 200 additional course sections each semester, aiding students in staying on track to graduate.<\/p>\n
