They also return ace pitcher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/story\/sports\/college\/longhorns\/softball\/2025\/05\/07\/teagan-kavan-texas-softball-sec-tournament-ncaa-longhorns-pitcher\/83454863007\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Teagan Kavan<\/a>, who leads a deep pitching staff.<\/p>\n<p>Texas Tech counters with star pitcher NiJaree Canady and a roster bolstered by several high-profile portal additions.<\/p>\n<p>Kavan, a junior, joins senior catcher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/sports\/college\/longhorns\/softball\/article\/texas-softball-reese-atwood-us-national-team-21082562.php\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Reese Atwood <\/a>on Softball America\u2019s preseason first-team All-American squad. Kavan, the Most Outstanding Player at last season\u2019s WCWS, went 28-5 with a 2.16 ERA and 230 strikeouts through 207 innings a year ago. Atwood, who has won multiple All-American awards during a decorated career, posted a .393 batting average with 21 home runs and 89 RBIs last season.<\/p>\n<p>Junior catcher\/infielder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/story\/sports\/college\/longhorns\/softball\/2025\/05\/30\/womens-college-world-series-joley-mitchell-katie-stewart-texas-softball-vs-oklahoma\/83936469007\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Katie Stewart<\/a> and junior outfielder Kayden Henry earned spots on the preseason second team.
