{"id":123123,"date":"2026-01-14T18:21:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T18:21:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/123123\/"},"modified":"2026-01-14T18:21:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T18:21:08","slug":"hector-herrera-rejoins-houston-dynamo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/123123\/","title":{"rendered":"H\u00e9ctor Herrera rejoins Houston Dynamo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlssoccer.com\/clubs\/houston-dynamo-fc\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Houston Dynamo FC<\/a> have signed midfielder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlssoccer.com\/players\/hector-herrera\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">H\u00e9ctor Herrera<\/a> through the 2026 MLS season with an option through June 2027, the club announced Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The 35-year-old former Mexican international arrives for his second stint in Houston, following a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlssoccer.com\/news\/houston-dynamo-move-on-from-hector-herrera-he-turned-this-club-around\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">memorable run<\/a> from mid-2022 to 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Herrera was a free agent after spending 2025 with LIGA MX giants Toluca.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is an honor to welcome H\u00e9ctor back home to Houston,\u201d said Pat Onstad, the club&#8217;s president of soccer. \u201cHe is a respected leader both on and off the field, and a player whose influence helped change the trajectory of this club during his first stint \u2013 guiding us to the club\u2019s fourth trophy in 2023 and a club point record in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;His return reflects a shared ambition to build on past success. While his role will evolve, we know H\u00e9ctor\u2019s leadership and winning mentality will elevate the standards of our club. He returns with a deep connection to the city and a clear understanding of what it takes to bring trophies back to Houston.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A two-time MLS All-Star and 2023 MLS Best XI selection, Herrera tallied 8g\/22a in 82 matches across all competitions for the Dynamo, captaining the club to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlssoccer.com\/news\/us-open-cup-champions-houston-dynamo-upset-messi-less-inter-miami\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2023 US Open Cup title<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the former Pachuca, FC Porto and Atl\u00e9tico Madrid star won the 2025 Clausura and Apertura with Toluca.
