MARY&#8217;S REWIND<br \/>\nThe #7 Lady Buffs ran their win streak to 15 games on Saturday afternoon as senior guard <a href=\"https:\/\/gobuffsgo.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/randi-harding\/13947\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"13947\" target=\"_blank\">Randi Harding<\/a> surpassed the 1,000-career point plateau in an 80-62 Lone Star Conference victory over the St. Mary&#8217;s Rattlers at the First United Bank Center in Canyon. <a href=\"https:\/\/gobuffsgo.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/taylor-haggan\/13946\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"13946\" target=\"_blank\">Taylor Haggan<\/a> scored 16 points and collected seven rebounds, also contributing three steals. Harding added 15 points and recorded four assists, converting all seven free-throw attempts. <a href=\"https:\/\/gobuffsgo.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/kyla-kane\/13948\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"13948\" target=\"_blank\">Kyla Kane<\/a> finished with 13 points and added five rebounds. <a href=\"https:\/\/gobuffsgo.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/henley-west\/13952\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"13952\" target=\"_blank\">Henley West<\/a> contributed 12 points, including two 3-pointers, and blocked one shot.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nSCOUTING THE LADY CHAPS<br \/>\nLubbock Christian enters the week with an overall record of 14-2 with a 6-1 mark in Lone Star Conference play. LCU is a perfect 4-0 inside of the Rip Griffin Center so far this season with home wins over Southern Nazarene, Southern Arkansas, UT Permian Basin and Angelo State.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLast Thursday night saw the Lady Chaps shoot 48.1% (25-of-52) from the floor including 38.1% (8-of-21) from deep and 60% (15-of-25) from the free throw line in a 73-62 victory over Midwestern State in Wichita Falls. MSU held a one-point lead at the half before the Lady Chaps outscored MSU 40-28 in the second half. Kennedy Chappell led the way for LCU, going 6-of-7 from the floor including 2-of-2 from deep and 6-of-11 from the charity stripe with 20 points to go along with seven rebounds, two assists and a steal.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nChappell leads the way offensively for the Lady Chaps as the junior guard from Heath, Texas averages 16.8 points per game, going 92-of-166 (55.4%) from the field including 10-of-38 (26.3%) from behind the arc and 74-of-100 (74%) from the free throw line to go along with 82 rebounds (21 offensive, 61 defensive), 67 assists, 30 steals and four blocks.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLCU HEAD COACH STEVE GOMEZ<br \/>\nSteve Gomez, the 2024-25 LSC Coach of the Year, is now in his 23rd season at the helm of the Lubbock Christian women&#8217;s basketball program, holding an overall record of 567-159 during his time in Lubbock. He has led the Lady Chaps to three NCAA Division II National Championships since transitioning from the NAIA in 2013 as Gomez holds an incredible NCAA postseason record of 27-5.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTHE SERIES<br \/>\nThursday night marks the 21st all-time meeting on the hardwood between the Lady Buffs and Lady Chaps as LCU holds the 14-6 series advantage. The Lady Chaps have won the last six matchups and the Lady Buffs are 1-7 all-time at the Rip Griffin Center.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLast season saw the two teams face each other four times with the Lady Chaps winning each meeting including a 73-60 victory in the South Central Regional Semifinals in Denton to end WT&#8217;s season. <a href=\"https:\/\/gobuffsgo.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/taylor-haggan\/13946\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"13946\" target=\"_blank\">Taylor Haggan<\/a> led the way for the Lady Buffs, going 13-of-18 from the floor for a game-high 26 points and 16 rebounds for a double-double.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nWT HEAD COACH JOSH PROCK<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/gobuffsgo.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/coaches\/josh-prock\/2548\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"2548\" target=\"_blank\">Josh Prock<\/a> is now in his fifth season at the helm of the Lady Buff Basketball program. The Lady Buffs made the program&#8217;s 29th appearance in the NCAA Division II Postseason during the 2024-25 campaign as they went 19-13 overall with a 12-10 mark in the LSC. The Lady Buffs advanced to the South Central Regional Semifinals.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nProck reached the 300-career victory milestone on Thursday, December 4th in a 76-51 victory over Oklahoma Christian at the First United Bank Center in Canyon. Prock was introduced as West Texas A&amp;M&#8217;s head women&#8217;s basketball coach on June, 2, 2021. Prock is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference as he spent eight seasons as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico leading the Greyhounds to their only three NCAA Tournament appearances in program history.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nHOME SWEET HOME<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nWest Texas A&amp;M is home to one of the finest multi-purpose facilities in the country as the First United Bank Center has served as the home of the Lady Buffs since January 26, 2002. The Lady Buffs are a staggering 296-47 inside of the FUBC during that time for a winning clip of 86.3%. WT has averaged 1,035 fans per contest since the facility opened its doors with the largest crowd coming on Opening Night with 4,941 members of Buff Nation seeing the Lady Buffs take on rival Abilene Christian.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLSC PRESEASON PLAYER OF THE YEAR<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nWest Texas A&amp;M senior guard <a href=\"https:\/\/gobuffsgo.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/kyla-kane\/13948\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"13948\" target=\"_blank\">Kyla Kane<\/a> was tabbed the Lone Star Conference Preseason Player of the Year announced on Monday, October 20th. The 5-foot-10 native of Wellington, Texas, averaged 13.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. She shot 89.8 percent from the free throw line and made 56 3-pointers.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLSC PRESEASON POLL<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe Lady Buffs were selected fourth in the 2025 LSC Preseason Coaches&#8217; Poll. Defending Regional Champion Texas Woman&#8217;s claimed 20 of the possible 51 first place votes to sit atop of the poll with 810 points followed by Lubbock Christian (14 first place, 776), UT Tyler (eight first place, 761), West Texas A&amp;M (six first place, 663) and Eastern New Mexico (two first place, 657) to round out the top five. Angelo State (656) sits sixth followed by Texas A&amp;M-Kingsville (564), UT Permian Basin (466), Midwestern State (461), St. Mary&#8217;s (438), St. Edward&#8217;s (363), Oklahoma Christian (310), Cameron (262), Texas A&amp;M International (one first place, 210), UT Dallas (168), Western New Mexico (161) and Sul Ross State (77).<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nWBCA DIVISION II TOP-25 POLL<br \/>\nThe Lady Buffs remained seventh in the newest edition of the Women&#8217;s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) DIvision II Top-25 Poll announced on Tuesday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe South Central Region is represented by Texas Woman&#8217;s (3rd), WT (7th), Colorado Mesa (9th) and Lubbock Christian (T-11th).<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLIVE COVERAGE<br \/>\nThe contest will be broadcasted on FloCollege.
