What might seem like a harmless prank could quickly turn dangerous, authorities warn.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Video footage from Sunday, shows a young person pulling their hoodie tight and delivering a kick to a front door before running off with friends.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Homeowner Landon Coker said, \u201cThat door came open with some gusto. He didn\u2019t kick it very hard, but he kicked it just right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Coker added, \u201cI thought someone was trying to break in. From the couch to the door, I was like, here we go. Then I realized it was kids.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">This is the first reported case of the challenge for Harris County Precinct 1, but it\u2019s part of a nationwide trend captured on video repeatedly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">After the initial shock, Coker said, \u201cI hope something bad doesn\u2019t happen to them because I was fifteen once, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Constable Alan Rosen of Precinct 1 shares that concern.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cThat\u2019s the fear,\u201d Rosen said. \u201cIf someone\u2019s breaking into my home, I don\u2019t know how I\u2019d respond. The homeowner confronted the kids quickly, but if the kids had actually broken in and someone was ready, it could turn deadly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Rosen referenced a recent court case where a young boy was killed playing ding-dong-ditch, underscoring the potential consequences of such pranks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Coker, who owns a gun, said he never thought to grab his weapon, but acknowledged, \u201cHad I seen a step inside my front door or if one of them tried to come in, that\u2019s a different scenario.
