As the Houston Texans were wrapping up their regular season and preparing for the NFL playoffs, one of their players was the victim of an armed carjacking, Harris County court documents show. <\/p>\n

Jaylen Reed, a 22-year-old rookie safety for the Texans, had his vehicle stolen at gunpoint by three men wearing ski masks on Jan. 4, according to court documents. That\u2019s the same day the Texans concluded their regular season with a 38-30 win at home<\/a> against the Indianapolis Colts. <\/p>\n

The incident occurred in Reed’s garage, according to court records, which show the men suspected of robbing Reed targeted him because of his status as a public figure. They allegedly demanded “everything he had in the house” before stealing his vehicle, prosecutors stated in court documents.<\/p>\n

Reed has played in eight games this season, making one start. He recorded three tackles in the Texans\u2019 first-round playoff win<\/a> Monday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.<\/p>\n

Court documents state the three suspected robbers were spotted by police in Reed\u2019s vehicle, at which they evaded police and crashed the vehicle before fleeing on foot. Police arrested Montreal Frye, 20, who is suspected of being one of the robbers.<\/p>\n

Frye was being held in jail Thursday on bonds totaling $600,000, according to court records, which show he has been charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and evading arrest with a vehicle. Frye pleaded guilty last April to evading arrest with a vehicle in November 2024 and was given three years deferred adjudication, court documents show. <\/p>\n

Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest are both state jail felonies punishable by up to two years in jail and maximum fines of $10,000. <\/p>\n

Frye\u2019s defense attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday.<\/p>\n
