On Jan. 6, a student reported the unauthorized use of their personal identifying information, UTA Police Capt. Mike McCord said in an email. <\/p>\n
Fraudulent use or possession of identifying information under five items is a state jail felony, punishable by imprisonment of 180 days to two years in jail, with the possibility of a fine not exceeding $10,000. <\/p>\n
Burglary of vehicle <\/p>\n
On Jan. 6, an unaffiliated person reported the burglary of their vehicle, McCord said. <\/p>\n
Burglary of a vehicle is a class A misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $4,000, up to a year in jail or both. <\/p>\n

False alarm or report <\/p>\n
On Jan. 5, an officer investigated a fire alarm pull station that was activated erroneously, McCord said. <\/p>\n
False alarm or report at an institution of higher education is a state jail felony punishable by imprisonment of 180 days to two years in jail, a fine not to exceed $10,000 or both. <\/p>\n
Reckless damage or destruction of property <\/p>\n
On Jan. 11, a UTA Police Department public safety officer found a damaged bollard, McCord said. <\/p>\n
Reckless damage or destruction of property is a class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $500. <\/p>\n

Criminal trespass and theft of property <\/p>\n
On Jan. 11, a student reported the theft of her backpack, McCord said. <\/p>\n
Criminal trespass at an institution of higher education with a previous conviction is a class A misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $4,000, up to one year in jail or both. <\/p>\n
Theft of property valued between $750 and $2,500 is a class A misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $4,000, up to one year in jail or both. <\/p>\n
