LUBBOCK, Texas (KFDA) – The #7 West Texas A&M Lady Buffs got the 70-59 win over the Lubbock Christian Lady Chaparrals, while the #16 Buffs fell to the Chaparrals, 72-57.<\/p>\n
Despite being down at the half, the Lady Buffs outscored LCU 23-10 in the third quarter to propel themselves to a strong ranked victory.<\/p>\n
Four WT players were in double digits in the win: Henley West (15), Claire Graham (12), Taylor Haggan (12), ad Kyla Kane (10).<\/p>\n
As a team, the Lady Buffs shot 39.3% from the field, 32.1% from three, and 70.8% from the line. They recorded 34 rebounds, 13 assists, five steals and two blocks. <\/p>\n
They are now on a 16 game win streak with a conference record of 8-0 and an overall record of 16-1.<\/p>\n
They will stay on the road Saturday to face Midwestern State. Tip is set for 1:00 p.m. CST.<\/p>\n
The Buffs held strong until halftime where they were only down a point, but a strong second half from the Chaps gave WT another loss in the conference column, being outscored 37-23 in the second half.<\/p>\n
Despite the loss, Fontaine Williams, Jr. had an incredible game, scoring 22 points, which is his 16th game this season where he\u2019s had double-digit points.<\/p>\n
Tascosa alum Jailyn Sledge also got in double figures with 11 points and nine rebounds.<\/p>\n
As a team, the Buffs shot 34.4% from the floor, 23.1% from three, and 75% from the charity stripe. They brought in 33 rebounds, six assists and six steals.<\/p>\n
The Buffs are now 6-2 in conference play and 14-4 overall. They have a chance to get back in the win column Saturday as they face Midwestern State on the road. Tip is set for 3:00 p.m. CST. <\/p>\n
