SAN ANTONIO \u2013 An immigrant seen on video<\/a> ramming into Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) vehicles in a San Antonio parking lot is facing a federal charge of destruction of government property, according to an affidavit obtained by KSAT Investigates. <\/p>\n

Records state an ICE officer ran a license plate on Jan. 13 in San Antonio. The registration identified Robyn Argote-Brooks, 25, as the vehicle\u2019s owner, but showed there was no Social Security number, driver\u2019s license or date of birth. <\/p>\n

ICE officers used the information to \u201cinitiate a casual encounter\u201d with the driver, identified in court records as Argote-Brooks. The video shows that the encounter happened in a Walmart parking lot.<\/p>\n

According to the affidavit, ICE officers used immigration databases to learn that Argote-Brooks is from Cuba and entered the United States in October 2024 at the Laredo Port of Entry, where Customs and Border Protection issued him a notice to appear and later released him on parole as his immigration case moved forward. <\/p>\n

The parole was terminated in April 2025, records state.<\/p>\n

After learning about Argote-Brooks\u2019 background, records show that ICE officers decided to arrest him and place him in ICE custody so an immigration judge can review his case. <\/p>\n

As ICE officers approached Argote-Brooks\u2019 vehicle at the Walmart\u2019s parking lot in the 12600 block of Blanco Road, records show he rolled the window up and refused to come out. <\/p>\n

According to the affidavit, Argote-Brooks turned on the ignition and reversed into a government vehicle, then drove forward and crashed into another government-owned vehicle parked in front of his car. <\/p>\n

The video shows that the government vehicles were unmarked.<\/p>\n

The video shows the officers pointing guns at Argote-Brooks, repeating that he \u201ccome out of the car.\u201d An officer then opened the driver\u2019s side door and pinned him to the ground.<\/p>\n

Court records show ICE officers had to jump out of the way. According to a statement shared by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), one of the officers was injured, but the agency did not specify his condition. <\/p>\n

The court records state the cost to repair the damage to one of the vehicles is $4,847.18.<\/p>\n

Records also indicate Argote-Brooks is expected to appear before a U.S. magistrate judge for a Jan. 20 detention hearing in San Antonio. <\/p>\n

KSAT Investigates reached out to Argote-Brooks\u2019 appointed federal public defender and will update this story once we hear back.<\/p>\n

Bexar County Commissioner Grant Moody said the agents and officers are serving bravely amid threats from the public.<\/p>\n

\u201cICE is enforcing our laws in partnership with local law enforcement. These brave agents and officers are being put in harms way and threatened by the reckless actions of criminals, illegal immigrants, and sadly even protesters.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement must be able to do their jobs safely and without interference. Impeding or obstructing law enforcement is a crime, and anyone who interferes with an active law enforcement action may face arrest. When officers\u2019 lives are in danger, they have the legal right to defend themselves.<\/p>\n

If you don\u2019t agree with a policy then protest peacefully, but follow the law. These agents have wives, husbands, sons, daughters, and brothers. They are our neighbors, our friends, and our classmates. They want to go home to their families too.\u201d<\/p>\n
