COLUMBIA, S.C. \u2014 It was the best of possessions and it was the worst of possessions Thursday night when\u00a0Texas women’s basketball<\/a>\u00a0played South Carolina.\u00a0<\/p>\n One one end, the Longhorns ran\u00a0its offense beautifully. The Longhorns (18-2, 3-2) forced 20 Gamecock turnovers but tallied a season-high 22<\/a> of their own and gave\u00a0up 15 fastbreak points.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Longhorns lead the SEC<\/a> in turnover margin (13) and with\u00a0the exception of forward Ashton Judd<\/a>, who came off the bench for two minutes, every Longhorn who checked into the game had at least one turnover. Forward Justice Carlton had five.<\/p>\n “It’s not normal for us…” Harmon said.\u00a0<\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n ‘Whatever it takes’\u00a0<\/p>\n No. 2 South Carolina (18-1, 5-0) is a physical team and Schaefer applauded the Longhorns for playing hard after they struggled at times. Tessa Johnson was 2-for-3 at the end of the third quarter on her way to a 4-for-5 night behind the arc.\u00a0<\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n Madison Booker<\/a> made the only 3-pointer for Texas. Because\u00a0the Longhorns face-guard the two players nearest to\u00a0the inbounder, the\u00a0best\u00a0way South Carolina could begin\u00a0a possession is with down-court passes. But not all lob attempts connected and if they did, the sped-up Gamecock wasn’t isn’t always efficient.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n “They (Texas) make you make the perfect pass for 40 minutes,” Staley said.\u00a0<\/p>\n Foul trouble helps doom Texas<\/p>\n An issue arose for Texas when it came to matching South Carolina’s physicality on defense: foul trouble.
