The award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within small college basketball.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe Top-100 list includes some of the top player from NCAA Division II and III, NAIA Division I and II, the USCAA and NCCAA. This is the 10th season for Small College Basketball to present the prestigious award, although a winner was not named in 2021. The Bevo Francis Awards Committee, which is made up of 20 coaches, will consider season statistics, individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements when they eventually select a winner.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nMiller Jr. and Pusateri are the first Chaps to be recognized on the Top 100 list since Rowan Mackenzie in 2023.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nClarence &#8220;Bevo&#8221; Francis played at Rio Grand College (now the University of Rio Grande) in Ohio from 1952-54. During his two seasons at Rio Grande, Bevo became the most popular basketball player in the world, and ultimately helped to save the school from bankruptcy.\u00a0 During his first year, the Redmen went 39-0, and Bevo scored 1,954 points and averaged 50.1 points per game.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nOn February 15th, the list will be reduced to the Top 50 players. One month later on March 15th, the Top 25 players will be announced. On April 2nd, the finalists of this year&#8217;s award will be announced, followed by the Bevo Francis Award winner being crowned on April 7th.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nMiller Jr. leads the team and is second in the Lone Star Conference in scoring with 19.8 points per game. He is shooting 50.4 percent from the field, including 41.4 percent from behind the arc. He is also averaging 8.9 rebounds per game and has six double-doubles on the season.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nPusateri is averaging a double-double and ranks second in the nation with 10 of them this season. His 16.0 points per game are second on the team, and his 10.7 rebounds per game are the most in the LSC. He is shooting 57.3 percent from the floor and has 21 blocks.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe Chaparrals are currently 16-2 on the season and 7-1 in Lone Star Conference play, finding themselves in a tie for first place.
