<\/p>\n DALLAS\u00a0\u2014 The Abilene Christian women’s tennis team began its 2026 spring season with a 6-1 loss to the SMU Mustangs on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n The Wildcats battled in a pair of singles matches. At the No. 4 spot, Alice Klinteby<\/a> lost to Natalie Stasny, 6-3, 6-3, while at No. 6 singles Elsa Lutha held strong against Eliana Kook, 6-4, 6-4.<\/p>\n ACU’s lone victory came at No. 2 singles as Maria Cascos<\/a> won when her opponent, Ellie Mireles, retired the match.<\/p>\n The Wildcats reached the semifinals of the 2025 WAC Team Tennis Championships, marking their third appearance in the tournament’s semifinals in four seasons.<\/p>\n ACU is led by a strong class of four seniors: Masha Vrsalovic<\/a>, Alice Klinteby<\/a>, Angela Del Campo<\/a> and Cascos, who\u00a0is a two-time all-conference player and was named to the 2024-25 All-WAC First Team. In the fall, Vrsalovic\u00a0was the singles runner-up in the WAC Tennis Invitational. She and partner\u00a0Klinteby\u00a0also made the doubles final.<\/p>\n The Wildcats play another Power 4 opponent on Sunday at Texas Tech, which is ranked No. 20 in the ITA Preseason Poll. The match is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start at Tech’s outdoor McLeod Tennis Center.<\/p>\n ACU will stay in Lubbock to play UT Rio Grande Valley on Monday at 11:30 a.m.<\/p>\n Fans can watch both matches through Texas Tech’s PlaySight\u00a0channel<\/a>, and live stats are planned<\/a> to be made available for the match against the Red Raiders.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
