Newly crowned queen reflects on confidence, competition, and her first week of duties representing the Coastal Bend.<\/p>\n
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 Royalty took center stage in Sinton last weekend as Rebecca Wilson was crowned the San Patricio\u2013Aransas County A&H Queen during the annual Queens Contest.<\/p>\n
Wilson recently appeared on\u00a0First Edition, reflecting on the competition and what it meant to step onto the stage in front of a large crowd.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the beginning, it was very nerve-wracking,\u201d Wilson said. \u201cBut once you get on stage in front of everybody, it\u2019s really not bad. It was super exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n
The event featured introductions, skits, evening gowns, and a farewell to the outgoing\u00a0queen\u2014making for what many described as a memorable and emotional night.<\/p>\n
Now one week into her reign, Wilson is already busy with queen duties, including community outreach and promotional appearances.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve met with Alan Samuels and made a video for small business outreach, and I also recorded a radio ad,\u201d Wilson said. \u201cI\u2019m just excited for it all.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wilson, a senior at Sinton High School, raises roasters as part of her agricultural background and credits the contest for helping her grow personally.<\/p>\n
Judges and audience members praised her confidence and communication skills.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey said I was very passionate, very vocal, and a good speaker,\u201d Wilson shared. \u201cThat really meant a lot to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
She hopes her experience encourages other young women in San Patricio and Aransas counties to compete in the future.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt really brings you out of your shell,\u201d Wilson said. \u201cIt makes you more confident and more vocal.\u201d<\/p>\n
