ARLINGTON, Texas\u00a0\u2013 UT Arlington women’s basketball (8\u201310, 2\u20134 WAC) picked up a 59\u201347 home win over Utah Valley (9\u20138, 2\u20134 WAC) on Saturday afternoon inside College Park Center.<\/p>\n

Senior guard Nya Threatt<\/a> was recognized before tipoff for playing in her 100th career game in a Maverick uniform and followed with a strong performance, finishing with 12 points and five assists, tying her season high (assists).<\/p>\n

“It’s special and a special feeling, especially today, you don’t see it as much. I’m happy, and I love it here and to be able to play here,” Threatt said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

UTA was led offensively by Kira Reynolds<\/a>, who posted 16 points and 13 rebounds to record her sixth double-double of the season.<\/p>\n

The Lady Mavs set the tone defensively early, carrying a 29\u201320 lead into halftime after forcing eight steals in the first half and holding Utah Valley scoreless from three-point range through the opening two quarters. UT Arlington limited the Wolverines to 29.2 percent shooting in the first half.<\/p>\n

Out of the break, UT Arlington stayed aggressive, opening the third quarter on a 7\u20130 run to extend its lead. The Mavericks continued to apply defensive pressure throughout the second half, finishing the game with 12 steals and forcing 26 turnovers.<\/p>\n

UTA held Utah Valley to 28.1 percent shooting for the game and just 2-of-21 from beyond the arc, while outscoring the Wolverines 38\u201322 in the paint to secure the win.<\/p>\n
