{"id":128676,"date":"2026-01-19T04:07:19","date_gmt":"2026-01-19T04:07:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/128676\/"},"modified":"2026-01-19T04:07:19","modified_gmt":"2026-01-19T04:07:19","slug":"former-florida-qb-dj-lagway-officially-signs-with-baylor-after-transfer-portal-move","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/128676\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Florida QB DJ Lagway officially signs with Baylor after transfer portal move"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/sports\/baylor-bears\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/sports\/baylor-bears\/\">Baylor<\/a> has finally landed its quarterback for the 2026 season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Former Florida quarterback DJ Lagway has signed with Baylor, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/bufootball\/status\/2012994277966500069?s=46&amp;t=qR9tyuLIBVj8gPZBnC0SdA\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"https:\/\/x.com\/bufootball\/status\/2012994277966500069?s=46&amp;t=qR9tyuLIBVj8gPZBnC0SdA\">the program announced Sunday.<\/a> While Lagway reportedly committed to Baylor earlier this month, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/sports\/baylor-bears\/2026\/01\/09\/dj-lagway-transfer-portal-visits-baylor-ole-miss\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/sports\/baylor-bears\/2026\/01\/09\/dj-lagway-transfer-portal-visits-baylor-ole-miss\/\">continued to take visits to other schools.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Lagway was a five-star recruit coming out of Willis High School in the class of 2024. He also began recruiting for the Bears after a verbal commitment, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/chris_hummer\/status\/2009738150340423864?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"https:\/\/x.com\/chris_hummer\/status\/2009738150340423864?s=20\">a report<\/a> from 247Sports\u2019 Chris Hummer.<\/p>\n<p>Sports Roundup<\/p>\n<p class=\"dmnc_features-cta-social-article-cta-social-module__3beff secondaryRoman secondaryRoman-20 text-center text-gray-dark\">Get the latest D-FW sports news, analysis and opinion delivered straight to your inbox. Plus, Kevin Sherrington&#8217;s A La Carte.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The quarterback completed 63% of his passes last season for 2,264 yards with 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He also ran for 136 yards and a score. He missed most of the offseason program while recovering from core-muscle surgery, a sore throwing arm and a strained calf.
