Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Lubbock<\/a> wasn\u2019t about taking the day off–it was about showing up.<\/p>\n

On Monday, January 19th, Reliant <\/a>employees rolled up their sleeves and joined Lubbock Habitat for Humanity <\/a>and Texas Tech Athletics<\/a>, including members of the Red Raider football team, for a hands-on day of service that left a lasting mark on the community.<\/p>\n

Turning MLK Day Into a \u201cDay On\u201d in Lubbock<\/p>\n

Instead of treating the holiday as a break, Reliant employees treated it as a \u201cday on,\u201d honoring Dr. King\u2019s legacy through action. Volunteers spent the day working side by side in a Lubbock neighborhood, focused on projects designed to bring people together and improve quality of life.<\/p>\n

The work included constructing a new walking path in a neighborhood park and painting the exterior of the final Habitat home built in that community–a major milestone that symbolized years of effort coming to completion.<\/p>\n

A Milestone Moment for a Lubbock Neighborhood<\/p>\n

Painting the final Habitat home wasn\u2019t just another task on the checklist. It marked the close of an important chapter for the neighborhood and highlighted what long-term commitment can accomplish in Lubbock.<\/p>\n

The new walking path added a shared space for residents to gather, exercise, and connect–a small but meaningful improvement rooted in the idea that strong neighborhoods start with shared spaces.<\/p>\n

Reliant\u2019s Continued Commitment to Lubbock<\/p>\n

Reliant also presented Lubbock Habitat for Humanity with a $10,000 donation, building on the momentum of last year\u2019s volunteer efforts. It was another example of the company\u2019s ongoing investment in the Hub City.<\/p>\n

Reliant has partnered with Habitat for Humanity in Lubbock since 2017, consistently supporting affordable housing initiatives and hands-on volunteer projects across the city.<\/p>\n

Habitat for Humanity\u2019s Impact in the Hub City<\/p>\n

Lubbock Habitat for Humanity has been serving the community since 1987. Over the years, the organization has built or repaired more than 150 homes, providing safe, affordable housing for over 500 adults and children across Lubbock.<\/p>\n

Events like this MLK Day of Service highlighted how local organizations, businesses, and volunteers can come together to create real change–not just for a day, but for generations.<\/p>\n

In true Lubbock fashion, the holiday ended with paint on clothes, dirt on boots, and a community that was just a little stronger than it was before.<\/p>\n
