A routine traffic stop in Dallas led to the seizure of nearly seven pounds of drugs, a handgun, and thousands of dollars in cash earlier this month, according to police.<\/p>\n
Dallas Police Department officers stopped<\/a> a vehicle around 11 p.m. on January 11 in the 4800 block of Haas Drive<\/a> in East Oak Cliff for a defective license plate light and expired registration.<\/p>\n During the stop, officers reported detecting the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver, identified as Julian Lewis, 25, was detained. Police said officers observed a handgun concealed in Lewis\u2019s waistband during a pat-down.<\/p>\n An inventory search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of:<\/p>\n Approximately 3,165 grams of marijuana (nearly seven pounds)<\/p>\n Approximately 85.2 grams of cocaine<\/p>\n Lewis was arrested and charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, a first-degree felony; possession of marijuana between five and 50 pounds, a third-degree felony; and unlawful carrying of a weapon, a Class A misdemeanor.<\/p>\n \u201cThis enforcement action demonstrates the importance of proactive traffic stops and targeted patrols in identifying and removing illegal weapons and narcotics from our community,\u201d the department said in a statement.<\/p>\n The case remains under investigation and is documented under case number 005452-2026, police said.<\/p>\n
