LUBBOCK, Texas \u2013 As part of the lead up to the 2026 season, a trio of Texas Tech Baseball standouts were named to Perfect Game’s Top-100 list.<\/p>\n
Looking to make an immediate impact as a true freshman, California native Linkin Garcia<\/a> was named the No. 93 freshman in the country while a pair of returners in Logan Hughes<\/a> (No. 31) and Robin Villeneuve<\/a> (No. 77) were also honored.<\/p>\n Garcia arrives at Tech after spending a prep season at A3 Academy where he was teammates with fellow freshman Jake Spinder.<\/p>\n Prior to arriving at A3, Garcia was tabbed a top-100 recruit (No. 90) overall by Perfect Game. During the 2025 prep circuit, Garcia hit a loud .513 with six home runs and 48 RBIs in 119 at-bats.<\/p>\n Garcia also stole all eight bases he attempted and hit 11 doubles and three triples. The strong 2025 performance comes on the heels of a 2024 season that saw Garcia hit .425 in 32 games with four homers and 26 RBIs.<\/p>\n At the 2025 PG High School\/Academies Showdown, Garcia led his A3 squad to the title earning the events MVP honors.<\/p>\n Tech’s second honoree, Hughes, projects as one of the best outfielders in both the Big 12 and the entire country.<\/p>\n The 2025 Big 12-leader in home runs, Hughes returns to Tech after a strong 2025 campaign that saw the Florida native hit .327 with 19 home runs and a team-best 58 RBIs. One of the hardest players in the country to strike out, Hughes recorded 26 walks and just 24 punchouts in 211 at-bats.<\/p>\n Draft eligible in 2026, Hughes projects as a potential top-three round pick in July’s MLB Draft.<\/p>\n A fellow transfer that is back in 2026, Villeneuve, returns to the Red Raiders after an impressive 2026 season that saw the infielder hit a team-best .365 with 18 doubles, 13 home runs and a triple. Villeneuve’s .365 average was the third-best average by a player in the Big 12 a season ago and is the best average for a returning player in the Big 12. His 13 home runs and 18 doubles were both ranked inside the top-15 in the Big 12.<\/p>\n The Red Raiders open the 2026 season in just 25 days (Feb. 13) when they participate in the 2026 Shriner’s Children’s College Showdown.
