The \u201cIslamic Games\u201d are currently scheduled for a public high school in Colleyville, prompting concern about district policies.<\/p>\n
The Dallas Islamic Games 2026 are currently set<\/a> for Colleyville Heritage High School, where Muslim groups are planning to take over the entire athletic complex. One of its sponsors is a chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, which Gov. Greg Abbott designated a foreign terrorist<\/a> and transnational criminal organization under Texas law in a November 2025 proclamation<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThe board was not aware of this,\u201d said Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Board President Shannon Braun to The Dallas Express. \u201cThis is obviously a sporting event. Where the problem lies is that you have a terrorist organization sponsoring it.\u201d Braun was referring to Gov. She also said they were investigating how district policy applies.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019re bringing in food trucks. They\u2019re using the basketball court, the tennis courts, the track and field, the soccer fields \u2013 they\u2019re taking over that entire area,\u201d she said. \u201cOh, and by the way, it\u2019s sponsored by a terrorist organization.\u201d<\/p>\n At this point, Braun said she expected district policy would not allow this event, though officials will continue exploring the matter.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m going to assume we\u2019re going to have a pretty good case to have them have to find somewhere different,\u201d Braun said.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Dallas Express also reached out to Colleyville Mayor Bobby Lindamood, but he declined to comment at this point.<\/p>\n Radical Islamic Ties<\/p>\n The event in Colleyville is just one of many<\/a> across the country, under the Islamic Games of North America. Outside Houston, the Islamic Games are scheduled<\/a> for October 10 to 11 at Bridgeland High School in Cypress.\u00a0<\/p>\n Sponsors of the nationwide events include<\/a> CAIR New Jersey.\u00a0<\/p>\n During the 2004 prosecution of the Richardson-based Holy Land Foundation, federal investigators alleged CAIR was founded<\/a> as a \u201cfront group\u201d for Hamas in the United States. Internal documents introduced at trial identified CAIR as a subsidiary of the Muslim Brotherhood, a global Islamist organization whose offshoots include multiple U.S.-designated terrorist groups.<\/p>\n As The Dallas Express reported, Abbott issued a proclamation in November 2025 designating CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood as foreign terrorist<\/a> and transnational criminal organizations under Texas law.<\/p>\n \u201cI would assume that no one would want a terrorist organization sponsoring events, considering that we shot and killed a terrorist that held hostages in that Jewish synagogue a couple of years ago in Colleyville,\u201d Braun said.<\/p>\n In 2022, a suspect took hostage<\/a> numerous worshipers \u2013 including the rabbi \u2013 at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, as The Dallas Express reported at the time. The assailant \u2013 later identified<\/a> as U.K. resident Malik Faisal Akram \u2013 demanded the release of a Pakistani woman who tried to shoot Americans in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n Another listed sponsor is \u201cBaitumaal,\u201d a nonprofit that collects<\/a> what it describes as \u201cemergency aid\u201d for Afghanistan, Palestine, Pakistan, and Sudan.<\/p>\n Yet another is the United Mission for Relief and Development, a nonprofit disaster relief group. The group\u2019s president, Abed Ayoub, previously worked<\/a> as CEO of Islamic Relief USA, an organization that has fac<\/a>ed<\/a> scrutiny from U.S. officials over allegations<\/a> of anti-semitic rhetoric and extremist associations.<\/p>\n Other listed sponsors include<\/a> the McKinney Islamic Center, Mesquite Islamic Center, Islamic School of Irving, Islamic Center of Frisco, Islamic Society of Greater Houston, Iman Academy Islamic schools of Houston, and the Islamic Society of North America, which was named an unindicted co-conspirator<\/a> in the Holy Land Foundation case.<\/p>\n
