{"id":130385,"date":"2026-01-20T14:12:31","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T14:12:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/130385\/"},"modified":"2026-01-20T14:12:31","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T14:12:31","slug":"lubbock-metropolitan-special-crimes-unit-investigating-monday-night-officer-involved-shooting-in-central-lubbock-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/130385\/","title":{"rendered":"Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit investigating Monday night officer-involved shooting in central Lubbock"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; LUBBOCK \u2014 A Lubbock police officer shot a man who fled from a domestic disturbance call Monday night, leaving the suspect hospitalized with serious injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is investigating the shooting that occurred near 18th Street and Ave. S.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police were called to a domestic disturbance in the area at 9:31 p.m. Sunday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">LPD says , a responding officer saw two people outside a residence, and both ran from the officer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The officer caught up to one person, a man, in a vacant lot in the 1900 block of 18th Street. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">LPD says the man continued to evade the officer ignoring the officers commands.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">During the encounter, the officer reacted to a threat to his safety and fired multiple rounds at the man. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The man suffered serious injuries and was transported to UMC.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A firearm that did not belong to the officer was recovered from the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Other officers located the second person, a woman, in a separate location and took her into custody.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Lubbock Police department plans to hold a news conference Monday, January 20th with details.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 KCBD.
