SPRING, Texas \u2013 For years, neighbors have complained about the Park on Westview Apartments, calling it a growing problem. <\/p>\n
Firefighters have warned that it poses a serious safety risk. <\/p>\n
Now, city leaders say it has officially crossed the line into a public nuisance, and they plan to tear it down.<\/p>\n
According to city records, Houston\u2019s 311 service has received 18 complaints about the property over the past two years. Ten of those complaints were filed in 2025, showcasing what officials describe as a worsening situation.<\/p>\n
Neighbors report repeated break-ins, ongoing drug activity, and people living inside the vacant buildings. Houston firefighters have responded to multiple fires at the complex, with officials noting that each fire further weakens the already unstable structures and increases the danger for emergency crews.<\/p>\n
Last year, a fire broke out at the complex. Earlier this week, another fire ignited, just hours after city leaders first began discussing demolition plans. Officials say the timing underscores the urgency of taking action.<\/p>\n
City leaders have now deemed the property a public nuisance and say demolition is necessary to protect nearby residents and first responders.<\/p>\n
City officials are expected to announce formal demolition plans at a news conference scheduled for 10 a.m. <\/p>\n
