El Paso can attribute much of their success to Emma Guevara<\/a>, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine steals, and Marley Montanez<\/a>, who posted nine points. Guevara is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she’s now grabbed two or more in each of the last 23 games she’s played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anieze Martinez<\/a>, who had six points.<\/p>\n

El Paso was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They are 9-2 when they’ve passed the ball that well.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Burges entered their tilt with Andress on Friday with eight consecutive wins but they’ll enter their next game with nine. They blew past the Eagles 58-31.<\/p>\n

Burges found their leader in sophomore Abigail Garduno<\/a>, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 14 boards. Garduno is becoming a predictor of the Mustangs’ success: when she posts at least ten rebounds the team is 13-2 (and 3-5 when she doesn’t). Another player making a difference was Melanie Arriaga<\/a>, who scored six points in addition to eight boards and six steals.<\/p>\n

El Paso’s win bumped their record up to 11-14. As for Burges, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.<\/p>\n

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: El Paso has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.8 rebounds per game. However, it’s not like Burges struggles in that department as they’ve been averaging 34.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we’ll see if one team can grab an edge.<\/p>\n
