The Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

El Paso will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Burges extended their winning streak to nine on Friday. The Mustangs took their game with ease, bagging a 58-31 win over Andress.

Abigail Garduno

01/16/26 @ Andress2101/13/26 vs Canutillo1801/09/26 @ Jefferson2101/06/26 vs San Elizario2212/30/25 vs Coronado21+ 4 more games

Burges found their leader in sophomore Abigail Garduno, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 14 boards. Garduno’s evening made it nine games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Melanie Arriaga, who posted six points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals.

Burges smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they’ve now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 14 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, El Paso got their first taste of in-conference action on Friday and they started things off strong. They were the clear victors by a 39-15 margin over Jefferson.

Burges better focus on containing Emma Guevara and Marley Montanez as the pair were huge in El Paso’s win. Guevara almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine steals, while Montanez put up nine points. Guevara has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 23 times she’s played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anieze Martinez, who had six points.

Burges’ record is now 16-7. As for El Paso, their record now sits at 11-14.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Burges has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.8 boards per game. However, it’s not like El Paso struggles in that department as they’ve been averaging 30.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we’ll see if one team can grab an edge.

Everything came up roses for Burges against El Paso in their previous meeting back in January of 2025, as the squad secured a 69-37 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Guevara, who earned 23 points and six boards. Now that she’s got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Mustangs still be able to contain Guevara? There’s only one way to find out.

Article generated by infoSentience based on data entered on MaxPreps

Burges is a perfect 10-0 against El Paso since January of 2021 and they’ll have a chance to…

[12
138,140,139
0":"post-130520","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-el-paso","8":"tag-el-paso","9":"tag-el-paso-headlines","10":"tag-el-paso-news
["GET
