{"id":133146,"date":"2026-01-22T06:50:21","date_gmt":"2026-01-22T06:50:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/133146\/"},"modified":"2026-01-22T06:50:21","modified_gmt":"2026-01-22T06:50:21","slug":"man-dead-after-2-vehicle-crash-in-northeast-el-paso","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/133146\/","title":{"rendered":"Man dead after 2-vehicle crash in Northeast El Paso"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">EL PASO, Texas (<a href=\"http:\/\/ktsm.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:KTSM;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">KTSM<\/a>) \u2014 A 31-year-old man is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Friday, Jan. 16, in Northeast El Paso, according to the El Paso Police Department (EPPD).<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a class=\"link  yahoo-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/articles\/2-vehicle-crash-results-serious-074331696.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:1 person seriously hurt after two-vehicle crash in Northeast El Paso;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> 1 person seriously hurt after two-vehicle crash in Northeast El Paso <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Shortly after 9:20 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to the 10800 block of McCombs on a two-vehicle crash with injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Officers on scene requested the assistance of crash investigators, who then took over the investigation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The preliminary investigation revealed that 31-year-old Arnoldo Vargas was traveling in an SUV south on McCombs but failed to stay in his lane and crossed the raised median onto the northbound lanes. The SUV struck a BMW head-on, which was unable to swerve out of the way, according to EPPD.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Vargas was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the day after, he died at the hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">This is the second fatality of 2026 compared to three this time last year. No seatbelt on behalf of Vargas is a contributing factor in this fatality, according to EPPD.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
