AUSTIN, Texas \u2014 The City of Austin partnered with the Del Valle Community Coalition to conduct a Flood Insurance Assistance Program to help homeowners in high-risk flood areas.<\/p>\n

The pilot program offers up to $2,000 in financial aid for Austin residents to obtain or maintain flood insurance for one year.<\/p>\n

To qualify, Austin residents must:<\/p>\n

Own their home and live within the 100-year floodplainHave household income at or below 140% of the Median Family IncomeUse the funds to obtain, maintain or renew a flood insurance policy<\/p>\n

Applications are available on the Del Valle Community Coalition website<\/a> and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until Dec. 31, 2025. If approved, funds will be directly disbursed to insurance companies for policy payments.<\/p>\n

Austin’s participation in the National Flood Insurance Program and FEMA\u2019s Community Rating System allows residents to access federally backed flood insurance at a discount of up to 25%.<\/p>\n

While the average annual flood insurance policy in Austin costs $670, those in floodplain areas often exceed $1,000.
