Mary St. in the Bouldin Creek area, is <a href=\"https:\/\/circaoldhouses.com\/property\/the-marlin-house\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">for sale at $3,195,000<\/a> \u2014 $2.12 million above the price Wood paid 14 years ago. In 2008, the rundown house was moved in four pieces to South Austin, near South Congress Avenue\u2019s collection of shops and restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>Wood, best known for starring in <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/20\/entertainment\/elijah-wood-reveals-lord-of-the-rings-scene-that-almost-didnt-happen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The Lord of the Rings<\/a> franchise, bought the home in 2012 for $1.075 million. Mary St.\"\/>                        The top floor plays with the dramatic roof shape.Photo courtesy of Kim West<\/p>\n<p>So, why did Wood sell the house?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI spend most of my time in Los Angeles, so the house just didn\u2019t make sense anymore,\u201d Wood <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasstandard.org\/stories\/bookworm-movie-elijah-wood-ant-timpson-new-zealand-austin-film\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">told Texas Standard<\/a> in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Real estate developer David West and his wife, former interior designer Kim West, bought the house in 2020 from Wood for an undisclosed amount.
