January 22, 2026 \u2013 El Paso County officials announced today that $1 million in federal funding has been approved for the Constitution and Peterson Road Traffic Safety Project following strong support from Congressman Jeff Crank. The funding was approved as part of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development appropriations package, which allocates federal dollars for transportation and housing programs, as well as related infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n
The Constitution and Peterson Road Traffic Safety Project will deliver targeted improvements at the intersection of Constitution Avenue and Peterson Road, which serves residents, schoolchildren, transit users, and local businesses.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Congressman Jeff Crank said, \u201cI am pleased to announce that the House has passed an appropriations package that includes a big win for our community. With the help of Carrie Geitner, the Chair of the El Paso County Board of Commissioners, our office secured $1,000,000 in funding to help make critical improvements at the Constitution Avenue and Peterson Road intersection, which will provide enhanced crosswalks, pedestrian signals, and more to increase the safety and well-being of all of Colorado\u2019s Fifth Congressional District and its visitors.\u201d<\/p>\n
County leaders expressed appreciation for Congressman Crank\u2019s support and partnership in advancing local transportation priorities.<\/p>\n
