Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.<\/p>\n<p>The City of Corpus Christi will provide the following services:<\/p>\n<p>Overnight Refuge Centers<br \/>\nDaytime Warming Centers<br \/>\nFree Transportation via the RTA<br \/>\nMeal Service<br \/>\nShower Service<br \/>\nPet Care<\/p>\n<p>Overnight Refuge Centers\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>In anticipation of this, the City will open two Overnight Refuge Centers, one at the Ben Garza Gym at 1815 Howard Street and at the Del Mar College Windward Campus FEMA Dome at 4101 Old Brownsville Road. Starting Saturday at 5:00 p.m., both centers will operate continuously through Tuesday afternoon, depending on weather conditions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Daytime Warming Centers \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The City has extended the hours for the following facilities throughout the City to serve as warming centers on the following dates:<\/p>\n<p>Sunday and Monday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. \u2013 La Retama Central Library, located at 805 Comanche Street<br \/>\nSunday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. \u2013 Owen R. Hopkins Library, located at 3202 McKinzie Road<br \/>\nSunday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. \u2013 Ben F. McDonald Library, located at 4044 Greenwood Drive<br \/>\nSunday, from 8:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. \u2013 Ethel Eyerly Senior Center, located at 654 Graham Road.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Residents are reminded that all City Public Libraries and Senior Centers are available during regular operating hours for those seeking a warm place.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the list of locations and hours of operation:<\/p>\n<p>Libraries: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.corpuschristitx.gov\/department-directory\/libraries\/locations-and-hours\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Locations and Hours | City of Corpus Christi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Senior Centers: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.corpuschristitx.gov\/department-directory\/parks-and-recreation\/parks-and-facilities\/senior-centers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Senior Centers | City of Corpus Christi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA) will allow individuals to ride fare-free upon telling their Bus Operator they will travel to the nearest Daytime Warming Center or the Overnight Refuge Centers. The return trip is also free. For more information, go to\u00a0<a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ccrta.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"http:\/\/www.ccrta.org\/\">https:\/\/www.ccrta.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the City&#8217;s efforts, Corpus Christi Police Officers will monitor people they encounter during patrols to determine whether assistance is needed, including providing transportation and blankets.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Animal Care Services will provide kennels and food for pets at the overnight warming shelters.
