This show allowed 10 year old Brett meet baseball legends like Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Ted Williams, Hank Aaron, Sandy Koufax, Ken Griffey Jr. and Sr. and many more. Memories I carry with me to this day. I sat down with Jeffery Rosenberg, the founder and CEO of TriStar, to tell you why you should make this an annual pilgrimage with your kids.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"960\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"standard-img\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/352503446288118c4769a974b7a903cd.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">For Astros fans in Houston, baseball isn\u2019t just something you watch \u2014 it\u2019s something you hold onto.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It\u2019s the signed ball from your first game.<br \/>The card you pulled as a kid.<br \/>The autograph you waited in line for with your dad.<br \/>The piece of memorabilia that connects you to the players who made you fall in love with the sport in the first place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">That\u2019s exactly what makes the TRISTAR HOUSTON Sports Collectors SHOW <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tristarproductions.com\/houston\/index.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:https:\/\/www.tristarproductions.com\/houston\/index.html;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">https:\/\/www.tristarproductions.com\/houston\/index.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"1242\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"standard-img\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/fb16fa4baae48ef515b4cbe8112f34e8.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Now celebrating its 40th Annual Show, TRISTAR has become more than just an event \u2014 it\u2019s a tradition woven into Houston\u2019s sports culture. And according to owner Jeff Rosenberg, the heart of it has always been the same.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cIt\u2019s the community aspect,\u201d Rosenberg said. \u201cWe\u2019ve built something where people come in and immediately share stories about how they became collectors and how they found our shows.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Hobby That Keeps Generations Connected<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The Houston collector scene has changed a lot over the decades, but TRISTAR has remained a constant \u2014 a place where generations overlap.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Rosenberg sees it every year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cPeople will come up and tell me they\u2019re 33 years old now, but they remember coming to the show when they were 10,\u201d he said. \u201cThey remember meeting guys like Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Astros players \u2014 all of it. The growth of the community is astounding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">That sense of history is what makes TriStar different. It\u2019s not just about what you buy or what you get signed \u2014 it\u2019s about what you remember.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">For many fans, TRISTAR is tied directly to family moments, like walking the show floor with a parent or meeting a childhood hero for the first time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">And Rosenberg understands that full-circle feeling deeply.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cIt means everything,\u201d he said. \u201cPlayers will bring their kids and families, and they get to see their children take part in collecting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He pointed to longtime guests like Warren Moon, whose family has been part of the TRISTAR experience through the years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThe player gets to meet fans, and sometimes they get to meet their own idols too. It goes both ways.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">As a kid I (Brett Chancey) have had the honor of meeting, Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Ken Griffey Jr and Sr., Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Sandy Koufax, Barry Sanders, Dan Marino, Frank Thomas, Craig Biggio, and the list goes on for me personally. A baseball signed by 11 of the 1986 NL West Divsion Champion Houston Astros. West Division Champions team, obtained at TRISTAR in Houston.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>The Card Market Has Never Been Bigger<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The memorabilia world has always had its ups and downs, but Rosenberg believes the industry is currently at its peak.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cIt\u2019s the biggest it\u2019s ever been,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve never seen this level of excitement or demand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Part of that boom comes from how mainstream collecting has become, especially with new corporate investment and marketing power behind the hobby.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cTopps and Fanatics have brought in PR and promotion,\u201d Rosenberg explained. \u201cAnd now current players are collecting more than ever \u2014 guys like Kevin Durant, Bobby Witt Jr. These athletes have cards of themselves and others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">In other words, collecting isn\u2019t just for kids anymore \u2014 it\u2019s for everyone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThirty years ago, if someone said they met Mickey Mantle, people couldn\u2019t believe it,\u201d Rosenberg said. \u201cNow it\u2019s everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pok\u00e9mon and Non-Sports Collectibles Are Exploding<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">While TriStar has always been rooted in sports, one of the biggest evolutions of the modern show is the rise of Pok\u00e9mon and non-sports collectibles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cIt\u2019s unbelievable,\u201d Rosenberg said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He recalled a story that perfectly captures the new era.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cA local collector once told us he owned the exact card Logan Paul was bidding on,\u201d Rosenberg said. \u201cHe sold it for $55,000 years ago, and now that same card has been offered for $10 million.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The hobby has created a new type of collector \u2014 part nostalgic fan, part serious investor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cMy son was born in 1999. I bought cards back then and gave them to him,\u201d Rosenberg said. \u201cWe had no idea they\u2019d become worth so much.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">But even with the money involved, Rosenberg says the emotional connection still matters most.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThere\u2019s an incredible feeling when you hold an item connected to your heroes \u2014 like Jose Altuve or Yordan Alvarez,\u201d he said. \u201cOwning something signed by your idol\u2026 you can\u2019t say enough about that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Astros Stars Still Define the TriStar Experience<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">For Houston fans, one of the biggest draws has always been the Astros presence \u2014 from rising prospects to Hall of Fame legends.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">And Rosenberg says the fan experience is designed to feel smooth, exciting, and personal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cWe run an organized experience,\u201d he said. \u201cTickets are numbered, lines are structured, and fans get their moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">His advice for first-timers?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cHave your item ready, have your pen ready, know where you want it signed,\u201d Rosenberg said. \u201cSay hi, congratulate them, maybe even have a question. It\u2019s a great experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Huge 40th Anniversary Lineup With Something for Everyone<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">This year\u2019s show is shaping up to be one of the most diverse in TriStar history \u2014 and Rosenberg says that\u2019s intentional.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cDiversity,\u201d he said. \u201cWe want something for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Houston sports will always be front and center.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cWe\u2019re in Houston, so we\u2019re going to have Astros, Texans, Oilers legends \u2014 Billy \u2018White Shoes\u2019 Johnson, and more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">TriStar is also expanding into new spaces, including women\u2019s sports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cWe\u2019re always looking at new sports,\u201d Rosenberg said. \u201cVolleyball has a lot of female collectors, and having a Texas A&amp;M national champion is a great opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">And yes \u2014 the celebrity guest list is stacked, because fans asked for it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cPeople kept asking, \u2018When are you going to have celebrities?\u2019\u201d Rosenberg said. \u201cSo we brought in names like Charlie Sheen, Randy Quaid, C.
