Several state constitutional amendments, a few state positions and many local races will be decided.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-channels-pixel.ex.co\/events\/0012000001fxZm9AAE?integrationType=DEFAULT&amp;template=design%2Farticle%2Fplatypus_two_column.tpl\" alt=\"\" class=\"x1px y1px vh abs\" aria-hidden=\"true\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\"\/><\/p>\n<p>From where to vote, how to vote, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/projects\/2025\/austin-texas-2025-election-how-to-vote-guide\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">what&#8217;s on the ballot<\/a>, here&#8217;s your guide for early voting in the Austin area this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s on the ballot this year?<\/p>\n<p>Texans face big fiscal choices at the state and local levels this year \u2014 from billions in property tax cuts to Austin\u2019s proposed tax rate hike.<\/p>\n<p>Texas voters will decide on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/projects\/2025\/austin-texas-2025-election-how-to-vote-guide\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">17 proposed amendments to the state constitution<\/a>, including a package of billions of dollars in property tax cuts approved by state lawmakers earlier this year.\u00a0Most proposals would deliver targeted tax breaks for homeowners, small businesses, veterans\u2019 spouses and others, or ban new state taxes on capital gains and inheritances. Others would create new funds for water projects, technical colleges and dementia research, and address bail limits, parental rights and judicial oversight.<\/p>\n<p>At the local level, Austin voters will also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/projects\/2025\/austin-texas-2025-election-how-to-vote-guide\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">decide whether to raise the city\u2019s property tax rate<\/a> to support a $6.3 billion budget the City Council approved in August. If voters approve the higher rate, the owner of a $500,000 home would pay about $300 more a year in city taxes. Polls are typically open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., but these hours may vary by location and day of the week.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/preferences\/source?q=statesman.com\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1760523311_429_rawImage.jpg\"\/><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>Where can I vote?<\/p>\n<p>If you live in Travis, Bastrop, Hays or Williamson counties, you can vote at any location within your county, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.votetexas.gov\/voting\/where.html\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">according to the official Texas voting site<\/a>. Check out our full list of polling locations by county below.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Other counties may only allow residents\u00a0to vote at the precinct assigned to them.\u00a0To find your assigned precinct, check\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/teamrv-mvp.sos.texas.gov\/MVP\/mvp.do\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;My Voter Portal,&#8221;<\/a> which will be updated two days before Election Day, Nov. 4. That could be a utility bill, bank statement, government check or voter registration certificate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>Can I vote by mail in Texas?<\/p>\n<p>To be\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sos.texas.gov\/elections\/voter\/reqabbm.shtml\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">eligible to vote by mail<\/a>, you must:<\/p>\n<p>Be 65 years or older<br \/>\nBe sick or disabled<br \/>\nBe out of the county on Election Day and during the period for early voting<br \/>\nBe expected to give birth within three weeks before or after Election Day<br \/>\nBe confined in jail, but otherwise eligible<\/p>\n<p>The deadline to apply for a ballot by mail is Oct. 24.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>The last day for a county to receive a mailed ballot is Nov. 4.
