SAN ANTONIO \u2013 As temperatures dip below freezing and ice is expected accumulate in South Central Texas, KSAT is providing the latest on Saturday night\u2019s conditions in and around San Antonio. <\/p>\n
According to KSAT Weather Authority Meteorologists Adam Caskey, Justin Horne, Shelby Ebertowski and Elliott Wilson<\/a>, San Antonio is likely to experience a switch from cold rain to freezing rain. <\/p>\n A heavier round of freezing rain in the Hill Country can also lead to dangerous travel conditions.<\/p>\n Large \u2018pileup\u2019 in Kimble County<\/p>\n Multiple first responders were dispatched to a \u201c20-vehicle pileup\u201d<\/a> on Interstate 10 near Junction in Kimble County. <\/p>\n Junction is approximately 115 miles away from the KSAT 12 newsroom in downtown San Antonio. At this time, it is unclear if any injuries have been reported in the crash. <\/p>\n Flight travel impacted by the weather<\/p>\n In a news release, the City of San Antonio announced 63 flights scheduled between Sunday and Monday have since been canceled due to the city\u2019s wintry weather. <\/a><\/p>\n Officials also announced which city services, programs or events would be delayed or canceled outright Sunday and Monday because of the weather. <\/p>\n What KSAT viewers are seeing outside <\/p>\n As temperatures in and around South Central Texas have dropped, some areas have already accumulated ice Saturday night.<\/p>\n See what other KSAT viewers are seeing outside their windows. <\/a><\/p>\n Can\u2019t be \u2018beet\u2019<\/p>\n Emergency crews in Bexar County are outside treating roads with a familiar mix of ingredients such as sand and chat rock. <\/p>\n According to KSAT\u2019s Devan Karp, those same crews are also using beet juice to prevent roads from serious icing. <\/p>\n How TxDOT is preparing for potential icy roads <\/p>\n KSAT\u2019s Courtney Friedman went inside the Transguide offices on the Northwest Side at 6 p.m. Saturday to show how the Texas Department of Transportation prepares for expected freezing rain and icy roads. <\/p>\n School closures<\/p>\n More than a dozen school districts and local colleges announced their plans to cancel classes on Monday, Jan. 26. <\/p>\n A list of school closures, which will be updated throughout the night, can be found here<\/a>. <\/p>\n Business closures <\/p>\n Several San Antonio-area businesses have closed their doors as the wintry weather moves through the Alamo City. <\/p>\n
