Here’s how long we’ve been below freezing and when North Texas finally cracks 32\u00b0.<\/p>\n

DALLAS \u2014 Temperatures are\u00a0plunging into the single digits and teens on Monday and Tuesday morning<\/a>. We likely won’t get above freezing until around midday Tuesday. Hang in there, North Texas!<\/p>\n

Monday morning will be the coldest morning since February of 2021. It won’t last as long as that deep freeze, and the widespread power outages are absolutely not expected.<\/p>\n

This would be an estimated 79 hours below freezing, which is a substantial period of time.<\/p>\n

However, that still pales in comparison to 2021<\/a> or the all-time record that was set in 1983. Any OG Dallasites remember that winter?\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 1983, people were walking on White Rock Lake! That’s how deep and long the freezing temps lasted. We were below freezing for nearly 300 consecutive hours! Back in 2021, we were 139 hours below freezing, which was the better part of five days.<\/p>\n

This stretch of below-freezing temperatures does not come close to the top 5 on record.\u00a0<\/p>\n
