{"id":138171,"date":"2026-01-26T04:59:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-26T04:59:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/138171\/"},"modified":"2026-01-26T04:59:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-26T04:59:07","slug":"el-paso-residents-embrace-rare-snowfall-with-joy-and-caution-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/138171\/","title":{"rendered":"El Paso residents embrace rare snowfall with joy and caution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 El Paso residents woke up to a winter wonderland as snow blanketed the area early Sunday morning. <\/p>\n<p>The rare snowfall, which began around 7:30 a.m., brought excitement and joy to many across the Borderland.<\/p>\n<p>One resident shared his surprise, saying, &#8220;Honestly, I woke up to this one saying, &#8216;It&#8217;s snowing outside!&#8217; So me and my brother-in-law wake up and we go to the back door and we&#8217;re like, &#8216;Wow.'&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>He added that it was the first time he had seen snow since his release from prison on Jan. 1.<\/p>\n<p>Families took advantage of the snowy conditions, heading to local parks for snowball fights and building snowmen in their backyards. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re playing with the snow. We&#8217;re having a fight right now. I&#8217;m so excited because I&#8217;m making like, a snowman in my backyard.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite the snow beginning to melt, cold temperatures are expected to persist.<\/p>\n<p> Many residents are preparing by layering up and staying alert for potential school delays or closures. <\/p>\n<p>Drivers are also taking precautions on the roads. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re driving slow.
