{"id":138827,"date":"2026-01-26T20:35:21","date_gmt":"2026-01-26T20:35:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/138827\/"},"modified":"2026-01-26T20:35:21","modified_gmt":"2026-01-26T20:35:21","slug":"texas-techs-honors-college-recognized-by-college-transitions-january-2026-texas-tech-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/138827\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas Tech\u2019s Honors College Recognized by College Transitions | January 2026 | Texas Tech Now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                     The website rated the Honors College as No. 30 in the U.S., marking the third national<br \/>\n                        ranking in a year and first by this publication.<\/p>\n<p>\t\tCREATORS<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/george-watson.jpg\" alt=\"Portrait of George Watson\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.depts.ttu.edu\/honors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Honors College<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Texas Tech University<\/a> has been recognized as one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.collegetransitions.com\/blog\/best-honors-colleges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">2026 50 Best Honors Colleges<\/a> in the U.S. by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.collegetransitions.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">College Transitions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Texas Tech was ranked No. 30 in the College Transitions rankings, placing the university<br \/>\n                           third among universities from Texas and also third among Big 12 Conference schools.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first time Texas Tech has appeared in the College Transitions rankings.<br \/>\n                           In the spring of 2025, the Honors College appeared at No. 17 in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.road2college.com\/honors-colleges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Road2College ranking of Honors Colleges<\/a>, and this past fall was recognized as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/bryanpenprase\/2025\/09\/30\/university-honors-colleges--providing-excellence-within-scale\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">one of 11 Honors Colleges<\/a> featured as a national example by Forbes magazine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Texas Tech Honors College aims to be the premier destination for Honors pedagogy,<br \/>\n                           research and mentorship,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.depts.ttu.edu\/honors\/about\/facultystaff\/bios\/Jill_Hernandez.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Jill Hernandez<\/a>, dean of the Honors College. \u201cThe recent national recognition of the work of Honors<br \/>\n                           faculty, staff and students describes what we have always known about Texas Tech:<br \/>\n                           we are a singular as a Research institution for our collaborative care for students,<br \/>\n                           our ability to integrate them into unique experiences they cannot receive anywhere<br \/>\n                           else, and our dedication to developing top scholars into ethical and thought leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>College Transitions brings together a team of college admissions consultants, researchers<br \/>\n                           and former admissions officers to provide data-driven services that help students<br \/>\n                           identify schools that provide the best fit, maximize admissions prospects and help<br \/>\n                           get the most out of the college investment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Texas Tech\u2019s Honors College was praised for its small, discussion-based class size,<br \/>\n                           dedicated faculty, priority registration, personalized advising and seminars that<br \/>\n                           foster critical thinking and leadership.
