Houston police are investigating multiple deaths reported downtown throughout the day Monday, though officials say no foul play is suspected in any of the cases.

In total, four people have been found deceased downtown within a roughly 12-hour period.

Investigations remain ongoing as authorities await autopsy results from the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to a call around 8:45 a.m. Monday morning after a woman was found deceased at Tranquility Park in the 400 block of Rusk Street.

HPD did not provide details but said there are no signs of foul play. An autopsy has not yet been completed.

Later Monday, HPD confirmed another call came in just before 1 p.m. reporting a deceased person at the intersection of Congress Street and Milam Street.

Police say the death did not initially appear suspicious. While a Medical Examiner case number has been assigned, the cause of death has not yet been determined.

Later Monday afternoon, HPD’s command center received another call reporting two people found dead in the 1900 block of Congress Street.

According to HPD Lieutenant Larry Crowson, Houston Fire Department crews were proactively checking areas downtown where people experiencing homelessness are known to stay when they discovered an adult man and an adult woman deceased beneath an overpass near Congress Street and Hamilton Avenue.

Lieutenant Crowson said there were no signs of foul play in that case, either. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of death.

HPD has not confirmed whether cold exposure played a role in any of the deaths.
