Immediate wildfire risk has been reduced.<\/p>\n<p>Outdoor burning is now allowed and must comply with state regulations, according to the release. County officials recommend keeping water or a fire extinguisher nearby while burning.<\/p>\n<p>What they&#8217;re saying<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile conditions have improved, I encourage everyone to be careful when burning outdoors,\u201d Travis County Judge Andy Brown said in the news release. \u201cAdditionally, I urge everyone to use extreme caution when heating your homes when we experience cold temperature. Never leave a space heater or fireplace unattended.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The background<\/p>\n<p>The recent burn ban for the unincorporated areas of Travis County\u2014areas outside of any specific city\u2014was <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/austin\/north-central-austin\/government\/2025\/12\/30\/burn-ban-in-effect-for-unincorporated-travis-county-through-jan-6\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">put into effect Dec. 29<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/communityimpact.com\/austin\/north-central-austin\/government\/2026\/01\/06\/burn-ban-extended-for-unincorporated-travis-county-through-feb-10\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">extended to remain in effect until Feb. 10<\/a>, as previously reported by Community Impact.
