Is Texas football<\/a> about to send another tight end to the NFL?<\/p>\n

In the days following a 41-27 win over Michigan in the Citrus Bowl<\/a>, Jack Endries announced that he will enter the NFL draft. Endries spent more time in college at Cal than Texas, but the Longhorns will definitely claim him on draft day. If he is drafted, Endries will give UT an NFL-bound draft pick for the third straight year since Ja’Tavion Sanders (Carolina)<\/a> and Gunnar Helm (Tennessee)<\/a> were fourth-round picks in each of the last two drafts.<\/p>\n

Strengths:Earned the on-field trust of Mendoza and Arch Manning, who could possibly be the No. 1 picks in the next two drafts<\/a>. … Yards-per-catch averaged wasn’t high in 2025, but he did break off four plays of at least 30 yards. … Was credited with just one drop over his last two seasons. … Honorable mention on the ACC’s all-conference team in 2024.<\/p>\n

Weaknesses: Played at a lighter weight than all 16\u00a0tight ends taken in last year’s draft. … Received a 66.6 run-blocking grade from PFF in 2025 and a 48.2 grade during the 2024 season. … Did not score for 10 straight games during the 2025 season.<\/p>\n

What our reporter noticed: Endries was a sure-handed target for a Texas offense that loves to employ two tight ends on the field at the same time, but his lack of production during the middle of the season was a little puzzling. Whoever drafts Endries is drafting him for his hands \u2014 which he showcased in UT’s final two games of the season against ranked Texas A&M and Michigan teams<\/a> \u2014 and not his run-blocking abilities.<\/p>\n
