CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 A fundraiser<\/a> is set for a Corpus Christi police officer injured in last week\u2019s west side shootout, as the community rallies behind her recovery.<\/p>\n RELATED: 3 Corpus Christi police officers injured in shootout with murder suspect<\/a><\/p>\n The\u00a0Corpus Christi Police Foundation<\/a> identified Alexandria \u201cAlley\u201d Cano-Castro as one of three officers who were shot in the line of duty during a violent series of events that began with a deadly shooting at McArdle Road and Ayers Street.<\/p>\n Two of the officers have since been released from the hospital. Cano-Castro remains hospitalized as she continues her recovery.<\/p>\n In the days following the shooting, a GoFundMe was created to help support Cano-Castro and her family with long-term care, rehabilitation, and unexpected expenses.\u00a0<\/p>\n Organizers say the fundraiser is meant to ease the financial burden during what they describe as a life-altering moment for the officer and her loved ones.
