{"id":140072,"date":"2026-01-27T18:34:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-27T18:34:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/140072\/"},"modified":"2026-01-27T18:34:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-27T18:34:11","slug":"lubbock-county-to-pay-commissioner-corleys-legal-fees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/140072\/","title":{"rendered":"Lubbock County to pay Commissioner Corley\u2019s legal fees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; Lubbock County commissioners voted to reimburse Commissioner Jason Corley for legal fees he incurred fighting his removal from office, despite opposition from the district attorney\u2019s civil division.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Commissioners Mike Dalby, Cary Shaw and Jordan Rackler voted to pay Corley back for what he spent on a private attorney last month. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Corley recused himself from the vote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In early December, County Judge Curtis Parrish found Corley tripped an automatic resignation after he announced he was exploring a run for Congress in November. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Corley fought that finding in court and accrued about $12,000 in legal fees.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Dalby, Shaw and Rackler said it\u2019s the county\u2019s responsibility to cover that cost.
