Two people are dead after a fire\u00a0broke out in their West Side home Monday night,\u00a0the San Antonio Police Department said.<\/p>\n
Fire crews responded around 11 p.m. to the 400 block of S. San Dario Avenue, where an extensive fire was ravaging a single-family home.\u00a0They immediately began searching for a man and woman who were reportedly trapped inside.<\/p>\n
The response was elevated to a two-alarm fire, meaning the fire department needed to request assistance from neighboring departments.<\/p>\n

Firefighters made an “aggressive attack” on the main fire and extinguished it in about 30 minutes.<\/p>\n
Crews rescued the man and woman from the home and took the pair to the hospital, where they were both pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
The Bexar County Medical Examiner will identify the victims and determine their cause and manner of death.<\/p>\n
A\u00a0battalion chief at the scene said he believed the home was a total loss. The\u00a0department is investigating the cause of the fire.<\/p>\n
