The sun may be a sight for sore eyes after spending days hidden behind the clouds, but Houston-area residents should not put heavy coats back in the attic. Another cold front is expected this weekend.<\/p>\n
With temperatures rising above freezing Tuesday after a winter storm hit the region<\/a> early Sunday, greater Houston’s few icy spots on roadways appear to be melted, according to Houston TranStar<\/a>. There could be a light freeze Tuesday night before temperatures reach the mid-50s on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n Temperatures could rise into the low 60s by Thursday before another cold front comes through.<\/p>\n Sign up for the Hello, Houston!<\/a> daily newsletter to get local reports like this delivered directly to your inbox.<\/p>\n “Thankfully this time around, we’re not expecting any winter precipitation with this front,” said Cameron Batiste, the lead meteorologist at the National Weather Service’s Houston\/Galveston office<\/a>.<\/p>\n RELATED: Texas grid weathers winter storm, unlike 2021 blackout<\/a><\/p>\n By Friday evening, Houston will go from a high in the low 50s to below freezing at night. Saturday evening will be colder, forecasters predict, with lows in the mid-20s.<\/p>\n “Don’t put away the insulation for your pipes just yet, since we are expecting the potential for another hard freeze Saturday night for areas in our Houston metro area,” Batiste said.<\/p>\n RELATED: Officials, experts offer advice on how to prevent frozen pipes as winter storm approaches Houston<\/a><\/p>\n Not all of Texas is seeing warmer weather like Houston just yet. Parts of Central Texas<\/a>, including Waco, are under a cold weather advisory between midnight and Wednesday morning, while the Dallas area<\/a> is still covered in snow and ice.
