LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Carpet Tech crews have been busy since the snow hit the ground in Lubbock.<\/p>\n
\u201cTypically the pipes burst after it kind of warms up a little bit,\u201d crew chief Reagan Davis said, \u201cbut we\u2019ve used all of our fans in the first couple days.\u201d <\/p>\n
While making the 20 minute drive from this home restoration project to an apartment unit, six more calls were made to Carpet Tech regarding floods, which Little says highlights the importance of solving the problem quickly.<\/p>\n
\u201cWater\u2019s actually a pretty dangerous thing,\u201d crew chief Connor Little said. \u201cIt causes a lot of things that can cause health problems and things like that down the road for you. We try and get it taken care of as fast as possible. We consider it an emergency at our company, so we\u2019ll move our cleanings and things like that as needed just so we can get out to the floods as quickly as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
The restoration crew will begin by assessing the amount of water damage. They\u2019ll then use water extraction equipment to remove any standing water and potential for mold.<\/p>\n
Afterwards, fans and dehumidifiers are put in to make sure the area is dry and safe for residents and employees of businesses. Crews have been working at a lot of apartment complexes in the past few days, which can make for a long restoration process.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf there\u2019s a bunch of standing water, obviously it\u2019s gonna take a little bit,\u201d Davis said. \u201cI was at an apartment Monday where there was about an inch of standing water, with carpet and tile.\u201d<\/p>\n
In order to avoid a possible burst, people are still advised to keep their faucet running and their cabinets opened. With warmer weather expected in the next few days, crews will be busier than ever, so it\u2019s important for them to get the job done completely and on time. <\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s what we\u2019re here,\u201d Davis said. \u201cWe want to get to you as quickly as we can and as best as we can. We want to be able to help you out for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n
