EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 The El Paso Holocaust Museum unveiled a new interactive biography as part of its Dimensions in Testimony exhibition from the USC Shoah Foundation. <\/p>\n
The exhibit, which will feature the biography of Dr. Edith Eger, will premiere during International Holocaust Remembrance Week, from Jan. 27-31. <\/p>\n
Dr. Eger, a Holocaust survivor who endured Auschwitz and other concentration camps, later moved to El Paso, where she earned a psychology degree from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1969 and pursued her doctoral internship at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center at Fort Bliss. <\/p>\n
Her grandson, Jordan Engle, expressed the family’s honor in having her testimony featured at the museum, noting El Paso’s significance to their family. <\/p>\n
\u201cOur family is honored and thrilled to have Dr. Eger’s DiT project coming to life at the El Paso Holocaust Museum. Edie and Bela moved to El Paso to find a future for their family, and it remains a very important place for our family. Having Edie’s DiT project launch in El Paso is truly an honor for all of us,” Engle said. <\/p>\n
The Dimensions in Testimony exhibit, which opened at EPHM in September 2024, uses advanced technology to allow visitors to interact with survivor testimonies. <\/p>\n
The El Paso Holocaust Museum is one of only 32 locations worldwide to host this exhibit and one of two in the U.S. to feature a Spanish-speaking survivor.<\/p>\n
Local students and educators have engaged in 4,000 interactions with Dr. Eger’s biography, enhancing the technology’s responsiveness. <\/p>\n
Jamie Flores, EPHM’s executive director, highlighted the significance of the educational opportunity her story provides. <\/p>\n
Speaking to KFOX14\/CBS4 on Tuesday, Flores said, “So a visitor can come in and have a conversation with a survivor, and they actually answer in real time to their questions. This week, we are opening the survivor testimony of Dr. Edith Eger. We particularly timed the unveiling of Dr. Eger’s testimony because she was in Auschwitz.” <\/p>\n
The museum invites the community to attend special presentations of Dr. Eger\u2019s testimony during the remembrance week, with no charge for attendance. <\/p>\n
Presentations will be held hourly, and RSVPs can be made by contacting the museum. <\/p>\n
