Through the month, the U.S. celebrates the accomplishments and contributions of the Black community. The holiday was recognized nationally by President Gerald Ford in 1976. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Here\u2019s a list of eight Black History Month events happening across Dallas-Fort Worth. Free. <\/p>\n<p>DALLAS MUSEUM OF ART\u2019S BLACK HISTORY &amp; CULTURE CELEBRATION<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The DMA\u2019s second annual Black History &amp; Culture celebration commemorates the history and contributions by the Black community to arts and culture in North Texas and beyond. Visitors can receive free admission to special exhibitions and can partake in artist talks, tours, art-making activities and live music.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dma.org\/programs\/event\/black-history-culture-celebration-0\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/dma.org\/programs\/event\/black-history-culture-celebration-0\">Details<\/a>: Jan. 31 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dallas Museum of Art, 1717 N Harwood St, Dallas. Free. <\/p>\n<p>BILINGUAL BLACK HISTORY MONTH PRESENTED BY NASHER SCULPTURE CENTER<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The North Oak Cliff Branch Library has teamed up with the Nasher Sculpture Center. At the event, participants get a closer look at the Nasher Sculpture Center\u2019s art that celebrates Black History Month. Free. <\/p>\n<p>BLACK HISTORY MONTH AT ARLINGTON PUBLIC LIBRARY<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The Arlington Public Library will be host multiple events in honor of Black History Month. These events include a family craft night; \u201cArt After Dark\u201d featuring artist Alma Thomas; family story time; and \u201cTea Time! Heritage of the African Soil: Kenyan Purple Tea &amp; Malawi Black Tea.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/arlingtonlibrary.org\/blackhistorymonth\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/arlingtonlibrary.org\/blackhistorymonth\">Details<\/a>: During evenings in February at multiple public libraries in Arlington. Free. <\/p>\n<p>FORT WORTH AFRICAN AMERICAN ROOTS MUSIC FESTIVAL<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">This music festival aims to celebrate the central role of blackness in American roots music. Performers will include Buffalo Nichols, Sunny War, Martha Redbone and more. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fwaamfest.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.fwaamfest.com\/\">Details<\/a>: March 21, starting at noon at Southside Preservation Hall, 1519 Lipscomb Street, Fort Worth. General Admission is $50, kids 12 and under are free, seniors are $40 and youth 13-18 are $20.<\/p>\n<p>DENTON BLACK FILM FESTIVAL<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">At this festival celebrating Black storytelling, attendees can partake in premiere screenings, free community events, concerts, panel discussions and workshops. They\u2019ll can also watch college shorts, original music videos, documentary features, international films and more. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dentonbff.com\/film-festival\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/dentonbff.com\/film-festival\/\">Details<\/a>: Jan. 29 through Feb. 1 in person at multiple Downtown Denton venues and virtual Feb. 1 through Feb. 8.
