BEXAR COUNTY, Texas \u2013 The capital murder trial for Christopher Preciado<\/a> has been delayed following a Bexar County judge\u2019s approval for a motion for continuance, according to court records.<\/p>\n

Preciado has been charged with the murders of Savanah Soto<\/a>, Matthew Guerra<\/a> and their unborn child. <\/p>\n

Preciado\u2019s defense team had asked for the motion for continuance, or delay, as the gun used in the case has yet to be tested for DNA and fingerprints, records show. <\/p>\n

The Wednesday hearing was canceled after Judge Jennifer Pe\u00f1a approved the motion. His trial was reset to March 16, according to records.<\/p>\n

The motion also stated that the prosecution\u2019s testing will be completed on Feb. 15, nearly two full weeks after the trial is set to begin on Feb. 2. <\/p>\n

Back in November 2025, the same issue came up with the gun not being tested in the case against Preciado\u2019s mother, Myrta Romanos<\/a>. Pe\u00f1a then denied the continuance in Romanos\u2019 case and later dismissed her charges<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Pe\u00f1a will decide whether to continue with the set trial date or grant the defense\u2019s motion. If granted, the trial date could be reset to March 16. <\/p>\n

Preciado, along with his father Ramon Preciado<\/a>, was taken into custody following the December 2023 shooting deaths of Soto, Guerra and their unborn child.<\/p>\n

If found guilty, Christopher Preciado faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. <\/p>\n
